The lender's attorney, including this office if we are representing the lender, represents the interests of the lender. However, in Connecticut it is most common that the attorney for the buyer also represents the lender, and in that event the attorney represents the interests of the both parties. This is allowed under Connecticut law and under the Rules of Professional Conduct adopted by the American Bar Association, as revised by the Connecticut Bar Association. However, in the event Attorney Keily is representing your lender, please be advised that you may retain your own attorney to represent you for your purchase. Attorney Keily is always willing to represent both the buyer and lender if neither party objects and this will usually cost the buyer less money and make it a more efficient process in preparing for and conducting the closing.
